that is the sled... I have a 2001 polaris XP 800 but it is just so heavy, so i started looking and I found this. I was wondering how fast it was, one of my buddies has a rev 600 HO and the other has an f6. Will I be able to hang with their sleds?
The sled is VERY fast. But the key question is how and where do you ride? I used to race sno x so I know these types of sleds very well. Those sleds your buddies have are aggressive trail sleds or race replicas. A sno pro is a full on kick butt racer, Blair Morgan style, made to pull hard out of the holeshot and corners, and take huge jumps and blast through holes where your friends will have to back off because their shocks are not even close to set up for that hardcore riding. Like the other guy said, it is not meant for long straight shots like lakes or long groomed trails, in fact you could burn it down without some tweaking if you did. If your not ditch banging like a snocross maniac you should probably look at a sled similar to the style they have. I noticed that the ad for the sled says it is a "mod". If this is so, the machine should be a 800 mod (ask the seller to be sure). If it is,that sno pro will have way more low end and out of the corner acceleration than your friends sleds. My 2003 sno pro had had hardly any cooling exchanger surface, to save weight for competion, people that wanted to trail run them were strongly recommended to add more heating/cooling exchangers in order to prevent overheating and burning up your motor. I am not sure about the 2004 but the seller should know, find out if all updates have been done to it, racers always get updates sent to them from the Arctic Cat Race Dept, and some are still listed on arctic cats web site in the racing section. And here is another kicker, that sno pro ONLY runs on 110 octane race fuel, (you can buy heads from SPEEDWERX for a 2004 sno pro 800 mod so it runs on 92 octane for around $400 though check their website or if the ad is wrong and it is a stock 440 you can get them for that too), and I am 99% sure you also need to premix the gas, no oil pump (ask the seller that). Going on a long trail ride? Want to mix gas at every stop? Like I said, the sled is awesome but meant for only one type of riding style like I said earlier, and if that is you like it is me I would take a sno pro ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over ANY consumer based sled, I don't care what size the motor.
