Oil Pump Where is the oil pump located on a 1998 plymouth Breeze?
My oil pump might be going out, the oil light sometimes goes on when I start the car but goes out when I start driving. Sometimes the light goes back on when I stop. It could be a sensor but it could be the pump. Yes I have a oil leak but the oil level is ok.
I just want to know where the oil pump is located BEFORE I go to the shop so I know a little more about what the cost will be to fix it .
I would replace the switch first 9 times out of 10 it is a bad pressure switch and sometimes they leak out the end. This could be your leak but a 9 year old car could have a leak from anywhere. The pump is on the front of the crankshaft it is a big job to replace. You need to pull the timing belt, crank pulley, oil pan and balance shafts. I would say it will take 5-6
hours labour x there rate. Around $100 for the pump $20 oil pan gasket. $30 oil change. You should also replace the timing belt and water pump at the same time since it is already apart. It should not cost more then 0.5 labour extra and $200 for belt and pump.
