Snowmobile engine in Go kart?
I have a 1990 Articat 440 Jag. I was wondering if I could put the engine from it on a small carter horse go kart. I do have plenty of tools and shop equipment to fabricate the stock frame and I was wondering if there was a way to mount the engine and run a belt from the clutch to a puley on a home made axle that could be salved off the snowmobile. Most of all I was wondering if the air cooled engine would be able to handle the heat since it is a snowmobile engine. I believe that the engine is a fan cooled setup. Would I have to run another fan that could compensate for the added heat? by the way the engine is a Suzuki
First off about 2 years ago me and my dad fabricated a go kart from scratch. but me and him use a honda race 250cc atc (3 wheeler) it had a clutch. Since we fab. are kart we built it around the engine so it fit perfect.
But yes it is possible to put that type of engine in a go kart jus make sure you place the engine the exact same way you took it out the sled. the extra fan wont be needed be as long as you dont run it slow cuz air will need to pass through and over the hot engine.
