Stabilizer Bar How do you install a center floor stabilizer bar in a 2006 Corolla?
I purchased a center floor stabilizer sway bar, it came without instructions, can any one tell me how to install or find instructions for me, I have exhausted my resources. Thanks
This is not the rear stabilzer which goes underneath the rear of the car nor the front stabilizer bar which goes under the hood. This bar goes between the front and reat seat. (Center bar) This is an additoinal part which the dealer does not have. If anyone has installed this kind of bar please provide instructions. Thanks
I think your talking about the one that fits under the hood. It gets mounted to the strut mounts. If you line it up to the strut mounts you will see what nuts have to be removed. You just remove the 2 nuts on the strut tower, put the stabilizer over the bolts and put the nuts back on. Other than that I don't know what other type of stabilizer they have.

how safe is it to drive with a cracked stabilizer bar? my 99 olds intrigue has the front one cracked on the right side but it is still intact. my dad had told me i could still drive it but dont take any extreme turns
Chronic problem on mid-size GM front-wheel-drivers from that period.
The stabilizer bar is a torsion bar - it resists the vehicles natural tendency to roll (lift the inside wheels) in a corner. This keeps the tires planted more firmly on the road for maximum traction and control. The stabilizer bar also has a hand in determining the overall handling characteristics of a car - how much it will understeer (front tires lose traction first - NASCAR fans call it "push") or oversteer (rear tires lose traction - loose in NASCARspeak). A broken stabilizer bar does not have that ability to keep the tires firmly planted and control that balance between understeer and oversteer. In other words, it will not allow the vehicle to behave as it was designed. This makes it a safety issue. In an emergency the car may not behave as designed.
The bar should be replaced ASAP.
Most GM dealers keep these in stock since it is such a common failure and they are not horribly expensive.

Rod End Is it safe to drive a vehicle at all (to the repair shop) when the tie rod end is broke?
Our tie rod end broke and the serpentine belt slipped off, but we were able to get the belt back on. Just wondered if it was okay to drive less than 10 miles to the repair shop or if I needed to have it towed. Thanks!
