Why do people say Honda motors are good for turbo if you have to rebuild the engine to handle it?
Why do people claim this? If you have to install aftermarket internals and what not your basically making a new engine. If Honda motors were that good people should be able to slap on a turbo and be on their way instead of rebuilding head gaskets pistons etc and the stock ecu should recognize the extra flow without having to swap it out for an engine management system.
(Not bad mouthing I drive a Honda just trying to understand where all the hype is coming from that's all)
you can turbo them on stock internals providing its a decent series engine, ie. B,K,F etc, and the turbo set up/kit isn't stupidly to big for the stock engine and your not trying to run 20psi of boost
you can only run around 5-8 psi but they will run them all day long, i know of someone who's running a civic EP3 Type-R (K20A engine) turbo, 350bhp on stock internals and its been running fine for ages,
even B16's and B18's can run boost safetly to around 250 bhp...
they handle boost on stock internals better than most engines in their class, they run very high power:litre ratios, whilst maintaining world class reliability at the same time, obviously any engine will need internal upgrades with heavy turbo kits, (low comp pistons, valve/cam work etc) to work properly, i just think they are hyped up as they can take alot more stock than alot of other engines....for example if you were to turbo a 1.6 astra lump i'm willing to bet it won't last all that long...

Can you drive a car once the timing belt has gone.?
Just curious to know if a timing belt goes in a car and some damage is done to the engine (normal damage) can you just fit a new timing belt and drive without replacing the pistons gaskets etc or is it even noticeable what would stand out
what are you calling (normal Damage) if interference engine most likely you have internal engine damage and need a rebuild before it will run again. Interference engine means if the valves are open when the piston comes up they collide valve/piston causing damage to involved components. Resulting in anything from bent valves and holes in piston to broken camshaft and broken pushrods depends on just how unluck you are.
If non interefernce then the valves don't get in way of piston and no damage just need to retime and replace timing belt. if you don't get timing right (crank 180 degrees off) engine will pop and spit but not run, this means you set crank at TDC of exhaust stroke instead of TDC of intake stroke. meaning the plugs are firing just before the intake valves open blowing fire into your intake system which can cause significant damage to intake components.
