I just bought a Yamaha V-star 1100. This is my first bike and I love it at 40mph. But when I get up to 55 its WAY too much wind. So, the obvious solution is a windshield. Looking at windshields online I found they come in different heights. Are there any rules for how high a windshield should be? Why go shorter versus going taller? Also, any good websites for parts?
Ok, I'm gonna give you the best advice you can get on this subject.
1) YOU DONT want to be looking through the windshield under normal riding positions. It will distort vision AND when it rains etc it will become a problem.
2) A shorter windshield still deflects wind and rain a few inches above it.
3) To select the right windshield, go to yamaha dealer and sit on a 1100 silverado (Same bike but has windshield already) Then sit on it like you were riding, Your normal line of site looking ahead should be a couple inches above the windshield.
Now these come in 2 positions so the dealer can tell you how tall the one is on the silverado, You can then decide if you need smaller or taller. Buy the one that at its tallest is what you think you need as you can always drop it down 1 click (It has 2 positions apx 1 to 1.5" diff in height"
What can I do to make my Yamaha FJR1300 look more sporty?
Do anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to make my Yamaha FJR1300 look more sporty?
- I would like to change the windshield because it seems to high for a sporty look.
-I would like more of a sporty riding position as well
any ideas? Thank you
the bags are removable so I guess that would be a start. I know they sell longer handle bar extensions for this bike, maybe they also make them shorter than stock. Beyond that it will beat all but the fastest sport bikes out there so I would say it is plenty sporty.
Snowmobile Parts stolen snowmobile in my backyard?
My nephew asked if we could keep the snowmobile he bought in our backyard. He has a title for it but the serial number has been scratched off on some of the pieces. I'm not sure if it is legit. If it is stolen (or parts have been stolen) could I be in trouble legally? I live in Minnesota.
Call the police non-emergency number and tell them what you told us. They will come check out the snowmobile. If it turns out to be stolen, your cooperation will avoid any serious trouble on your part. If not, you won't get in trouble for inquiring.
I had heated grips fitted to my bike when it was new 6500 miles ago, by the dealer, anyway, they have come loose, and i cant figure out how to glue them back with out cutting them off, help please?? thanks
Call your dealer. THey will most likely stand behind their work. If the grips comes loose it is because it expands and contracts with heat, something the dealer should have accounted for when they installed the grips.
ok i ride a honda cg 114 miles a day with winter drawing nearer i want to get my winter gear sorted early this year any recomendatios for good trousers and glove that arent going to break the bank and also has anyone fitted heated grips to a 125 does it drain the battery to much my cg is kick start only so will this be a problem was thinking of maybe getting some fixed mitts for the handle bars aswell as heated grips any suggestions???
if you CG125 is kick start only....
Then i'm pretty sure that your charging system is 6V
As such... no one makes a 6v heated grip setup.. all Commercial ones are 12 volt.
Your head light circuit is only activated when the engine is running... So if you do find a solution or if your circuit is 12 volt then wire your hot grips into the headlight circuit BEFORE the switch.
I have done this SUCCESSFULLY on a SCOOTER which didn't have sufficient battery output to run accessories, EVEN the fact that the HEADLIGHT system was AC only, the heated grips worked fine.
The fixed MITTs Are rubbish..
you can buy heated gloves and clothing that can be energised off of a separate battery or off the vehicles charging system as long as it is 12 volt.
HOWEVER
those offered by MAPLIN could be adapted as they run on 4.5 volts
