Rev Snowmobile why dose my snowmobile grab belt at 5000 rpm and when it does it slips and burns the belt ?
i just got a 1995 polaris indy xlt touring it has been siting outside for a couple years. it will start up ok but it dosent idel the rpm slowly dies away to 0 but if i stick somthing in the gas so its held a 1000 or so then it does fine. i hit the gas and it just revs up then when it get to 4500-5000 rpm it takes the belt but dosent move. if i give it more gas it will slowly move but it smells like burning rubber and i see the belt sliping. and the steering is stuck it feels locked the skis will move some if i move them by hand and when i do that i see the steering move just a hair. but when i grab the handel bars and try to steer they feel locked i wd-40ed the hole steering system but it dident help. what should i do for all this ?
You need a jack-stand under the back of the sled so that the track is off the ground. Remove the drive belt and turn the secondary clutch to make sure the track is free.The gas is very likely old in the fuel tank and should be removed. **Field strip the carburetors and make sure the pilot jets are clean. If the tiny hole in center of the pilot jets are plugged you'll never get any throttle response and you'll wind up burning a hole in one of the pistons.
Primary and secondary clutch should come apart for cleaning and lubrication. If you're not familiar with Polaris clutches, take the sled to a dealer or find someone who does know how to overhaul them.

It is 1997 polaris indy that starts and runs great. It feels like the extra power is there but it jus wont go. It almost bogs down like it has a governor. Can you help me out here?
Yeah , your exhaust is plugged up! If ya got an outside burn barrel, just get a good fire going , and drop it in! All the crap on the inside will burn out, let it cool off, blow it out with some air, throw some BBQ black paint back on it , and go have fun! Check the exhaust port, too, where the pipe came off, scrape the crap out, and vacuum the chunks out!
Will my 12 volt battery Charger wreck my snowmobile?
I have a Rev xp, and the battery died because my brother is an idiot. I have a battery charger, but its a 12 volt. If I put it on trickle charge even for a few minutes, will it still wreck my battery? My Recoil is messed as well.
if the snowmobile is 12 volt it wont hurt.count the cells on top.if its 12 volt,there will be 6 cells.if its 6 volt,there will be 3 cells,and the 12 volt charger most likely will not charge it.
