Snowmobile Sleds How do i hook up my helmet's heated shield to my snowmobile?
I recently bought a snowmobile helmet with a heated shield. Exactly how do i hook the helmet to the sled? We rent snowmobiles for one week a year, and I have always had issues with my shield frosting over. So i went out and bought a helmet with a heated shield. It is a brand new helmet and i assume it came with all of the cords and wires that are needed to hook it up/
I have never rented but I would think most rentals would be wired so that you could just plug your A/V type cable right in. If not, all newer sleds have an accessory plug that can be used to wire in the female end of the A/V plug. Problem is, in most cases you need that manufacturers helmet and shield or else you need to tap into a hot wire, which I don't think the rental people would be too keen on. For example, I have a 2005 Polaris and a HJC heated shield. The plugs did not match so I cut the plug off the sled and spliced the wires. I'm not sure if the HJC plug would fit a Yammy, Ski-Doo or Cat.
Next time you call to reserve your rental just ask if their sleds have plugs for heated shields and when you get there have them show you where it is located.

nope, skis all very and most plastic skis have different mount kits for different sleds. Now you probably could use just about any skidoo ski, I've put yamaha skis on my older skidoo because they don't make skis for it anymore. Anything can be made to fit. keep all the rubber parts and you should be able to fit most to your model. online is a good way to find other skis that work, or just go to denniskirk.com
