Breckenridge's Ten Mile Range is a world-class ski resort that draws people from all over the world year after year. Thousands of people each hour are carried by 30 chair lifts to four peaks of this mountain town. While over 2,000 acres of terrain provide for a perfect place for skiing and boarding on the mountain, there are plenty of other winter activities to keep you busy in Breckenridge. It is certainly not a wonder why Breckenridge is considered the hotspot for winter activity in Summit County.
Snowshoeing is a popular and enjoyable activity that doesn’t need much preparation. You can just step outside of your Breckenridge vacation rental and find trails of fresh powder that are perfect for snowshoeing. The Breckenridge and Frisco Nordic Centers provide all-day and private snowshoe tours as well as new trails for wandering on your own. The Breckenridge Nordic Center also offers cross country skiing less than one mile from downtown, accessible from the free shuttle. But winter activities certainly don't end there. Snowmobiling, ice skating, and dog sledding are all popular in the winter months in Breckenridge, with available gears and equipment for everything.
The annual celebrations in Breckenridge also contribute to the anticipation of a new winter season. Breckenridge hosts a slew of events every year like the traditional Lighting of Breckenridge, the International Snow Sculpture Championships, and the Mardi Gras celebration. Main Street is another reason why Breckenridge is one of the best places to have a wonderful vacation. Endless lines of boutiques, art galleries, and novelty shops will fascinate you plus many restaurants around Main Street will offer you an array of culinary delights ranging from appealing bakeries to a two-million pound floating replica of one of the largest dredges. Breckenridge will show you a good time by offering various forms of entertainment. The second Wednesday of each month is known as High Country Comedy Night at the Park Avenue Pub. There are also plenty of bars where you can hang out and mingle any night of the week. Whether you're up for a specialty martini at the Blue River Bistro or a beer at the Gold Pan Saloon, drinks abound in Breckenridge. Live music is an attraction at the rows of bars and clubs that feature both local and national acts. What is more, transportation is not a problem since the town's free shuttle is easily accessible from most Breckenridge accommodations.
