I have a 90 Yamaha snowmobile that runs good but the choke has to be on about half if you do not have the choke on it dies on me what can I do
I would look at 3 things, 1 are the carb(s) clean, 2 is the iddle set right or 3 are the choke cable(s) out of adjustment. You also need to be sure you are running no-ethanol, fresh gas. If you don't know much about carbs you can normally find someone retired or small engine shop that can clean them up pretty cheap ($35 to $45 ea). If you don't know how - it is cheap.
The idle screw is on the side of the carbs. You can normally find something online to get a starting point. Normally it is something like turn the screw all the way in and then back it out 3 full turns and adjust up or down from there.
Lastly, the choke cables which are rather easy to adjust - follow the cable from the switch to the carb. Again a search on the net (not sure if Yamaka used Mukini cabs or not, but the have much of this on their website) should give you a starting poin, normally in mm. There should be two nuts on the end of the cable - 1st is the "locking" nut the 2nd adjusts. Loosing the first nut and then the second. Try firing it up. If it runs good - tighten up the 1st nut and enjoy!! If not it is a process of tightening and loosing a 1/4 turn or so at a time to get it right.
